What's the whole idea of this project?
Goal

The young generation in Lithuania and Latvia is aware of climate change impacts and individual ways to act accordingly.

Sub-goals:
1. Youth/public are informed & motivated to engage in climate policy
2. Climate round tables are initiated at the local level
3. Knowledge products are available for schools/public
Background

Lithuania & Latvia need a more ambitious policy to meet the Paris Agreement goals & EU targets. Also, climate-related issues are not reflected in the school curricula. Thus, a concerned young generation can become an important driver of change.

Project

The project will launch a Mobile Climate Museum (MCM) to motivate the youth/public to engage in climate politics & climate-friendly lifestyles. In partnership with municipalities, media partners and support of Ministries in LT/LV the MCM will become a catalyst for a public debate on ambitious climate policy & EU Green Deal.

Concrete measures: 1) MCM; 2) two high-level Grand Openings + 18 local events with municipalities; 3) a media campaign; 4) two seminars for journalists, 10 webinars for teachers; 5) Annual Climate Awards.
How is the Mobile Climate Museum and its events going to look like?
The Mobile Climate Museum will consist of four 12-meter-long maritime containers (exhibition halls) with 4 themes:
1. Climate change – international aspects, EU approach;
2. Greener Lithuania / Latvia – EU Green Course;
3. Sustainable agriculture and healthy food;
4. Climate-friendly lifestyle.
The MCM will visit 20 cities for 1-2 weeks each & will bring Action Week, where climate related events/debates will take place.
When will the Mobile Climate Museum start its journey?

The MCM will start its journey in May 2022.

Who's running the project?

The project is coordinated by the Active Youth Association (LT) and Latvijas Dabas Fonds (LV).
